Without great vision children can suffer enormous setbacks in their learning and their development of life skills. Sadly in the UK one in five children has never had an eye examination, leading to about one million children under 12 with uncorrected visual defects.
Our Team will make your children feel comfortable from the moment they come in, offering refreshments and asking about hobbies and how their eyes seem.
Claire, Alannah, Helen and Kevin, our Optometrists, all have children, so are experienced at putting children at ease while carrying out a very thorough test. We have lots of different ways to test eyes and communication is very important.
The test is straightforward and interesting whilst also being an important part of educating Children about routine health checks.
What happens if my child needs glasses?
After establishing your childs visual requirements with our Optometrists, you will then see our Dispensing Opticians. They are here to help you find the right sort of frame for your child and will show you the different sorts of fittings, styles and colours of eyewear available.
Anyone under 16 years of age or Under 19 in full time education will get NHS help to completely cover or contribute towards your childs eyewear needs.
We can also use hospital and clinic prescriptions/vouchers here at Thomas Carter Opticians. You don’t need an appointment to see our Dispensing Opticians so pop in anytime.
We have a range of frames to suit all budgets and fitting needs and if we don’t have the right frame in for your little ones then we can order it in.
